Can Dogs Eat Apples? Yes, With These Rules
The flesh is fine. Remove the core and seeds first.
Safe in small amounts
Dogs
Safe amount
A few slices now and then, as a treat.
How to prepare it
Remove the core, the seeds and the stem. Green and red apples are handled the same way. Wash the fruit first; the skin can stay on or be peeled. Cut into bite-sized pieces, because a whole apple can get stuck in the throat.
Risks
Apple seeds contain a compound that can release cyanide when crushed or chewed, so keep them out. A whole apple or a large piece of core can cause choking or a blockage.
